How to give an effective presentation using PowerPoint

AbstractGiving presentations is an important aspect of the healthcare professional’s role, with the use of PowerPoint often being expected. Although multimedia technology may aid the effectiveness of a presentation care is needed to ensure that inappropriate features do not distract the audience from the key message. The skills required to give effective presentations can be learnt and improved with practice. This article provides guidance for those wishing to improve their skills and focuses on the importance of preparation and practice before the event. It also provides advice regarding design of the PowerPoint slides and dealing with ‘question and answer’ sessions.
